Srinagar, Oct 09 (KNO): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Friday predicted that higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to witness light snowfall on October 10 and again on October 13 and14. The weather office forecast accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) predicts cloudy conditions with light rainfall at scattered to many places on October 10 and light snowfall over higher reaches. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also possible. The weather is likely to remain generally dry on October 11 and 12. Light rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely at many places on October 13 and 14, while October 15 is expected to remain generally dry, with brief spells of light rain possible at a few places, the forecast predicts. The Meteorological Centre has advised farmers to continue harvesting and ensure the safe storage of harvested apples and paddy in view of the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds on October 10 and October 13-14. TEMPERATURES REMAIN ABOVE NORMAL According to the department, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees above normal, while the minimum settled at 9.3 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees above normal. Qazigund recorded a maximum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees above normal, while Pahalgam registered 23.6 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees above normal. Kupwara recorded 27.7 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees above normal, and Gulmarg recorded 19 degrees Celsius, 3.9 degrees above normal. In Jammu division, Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius, while Katra registered 29 degrees Celsius and Kathua 31.4 degrees Celsius. Batote and Bhaderwah recorded maximum temperatures of 25.1 and 26.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. Reasi ARG recorded the highest rainfall at 28.5 mm, followed by Katra at 20.8 mm and Jammu at 18.6 mm, according to the department's data—(KNO)
